What Kids Learn on the Course
The Mziki Junior Ranger course covers a wide range of practical bush skills, taught in a fun, hands-on way that keeps children engaged from start to finish. Kids learn to identify animal tracks and droppings, understand basic animal behaviour, and recognise the calls of common bush species. They’ll also pick up survival-orientated skills around the lodge, from identifying edible and medicinal plants to understanding water and fire safety in a natural environment.
Throughout the course, children are encouraged to think like the animals they’re learning about – listening carefully like a kudu and remembering details like an elephant – building both their observation skills and their confidence in the bush. The course culminates in a fun quiz, testing everything they’ve picked up along the way, with a certificate and the title of “Mziki Junior Ranger” awarded to every child who completes it.
