Werner Pallamar, an Austrian Mountain Climber who previously also climbed in the Himalaya mountains, embarked on an expedition through Africa in the year 1965, conquering all mountains of a higher altitude in Africa. 27 months later and back in Vienna he decided to immigrate to South Africa with one suitcase. Being a great nature lover he started to create the Mziki game reserve in 1981 with the first farm, which today is home to our lodge, the only one on our reserve. Mziki was expanded over the decades with the addition of several farms, where private investors bought into the concept of preserving the land, and over time introducing more game species which always lived in this space. Werner’s wife Manuela and their two sons Philip and Christopher continue in his legacy. In 2023 most bedrooms received an upgrade and 3 new 2-bedroom units are added with the introduction of Sable and Cheetah this year. We believe in a very personal ‘away from home’ approach and cater for children as our future guests. We preserve our space and our purpose is to look after our environment, our un-spoilt nature, and our great team of staff.
At Mziki Safari Lodge, our team is the heart and soul of our operation. Led by Manuela, along with her two sons Philip and Christopher, we are a close-knit family dedicated to providing an exceptional experience for our guests.
